DIY Coconut Coffee Scrub

During the winter, my skin gets very dry so I am constantly looking for ways to hydrate and bring life to my dormant skin. I love coconut oil and I am always finding more and more uses for it. Most of which do not include cooking but with my skin because of its many amazing benefits. If you are looking to hydrate + tone your skin, reduce cellulite and stretch marks + add a boost of energy try this DIY coconut oil + coffee scrub! Super easy to make and only requires two ingredients, you probably already have in your kitchen!

Ingredient 1. Coconut oil is a great moisturizer and is filled with Vitamin E, the ultimate anti-again vitamin, delaying wrinkles and sagging. Plus its antibacterial properties help prevent breakouts. Ingredient 2. Coffee is packed with antioxidants which, makes it perfect for anti-aging and detoxifying. It is also a natural astringent which will temporarily make your skin tighter and firmer. The combination of Coconut oil + coffee grounds makes them quite the anti-aging dynamic duo. I like to use this scrub to exfoliate my skin in the morning as it makes me feel like I am getting an extra little boost!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup freshly ground coffee beans depending on how much you want to exfoliate (you can use your leftover morning grounds)

Directions:

  1. Let your coconut oil come to room temp until it softens or you can microwave your coconut oil but only very briefly.
  2. Grind coffee beans I like to make them fairly fine.
  3. Combine coffee grounds and coconut oil, stir well.
  4. Pour mixture into a jar (like this one) and store in a cool dark place. Coconut oil will become liquid when warm.  You can store in your freezer or fridge to keep solid until you use.
  5. Voilà! You are ready to scrub away.
