Travel: Nashville, Tennessee

I went to Nashville, Tennessee for the first time over Labor Day weekend for a friend from college's wedding. I took a girl friend of mine along with me and we made a little road trip of it. (I guess I shouldn't say little since driving from Chicago is about 7 hours!) We got an Airbnb in the Music Row neighborhood, which was close to the wedding shuttle and we used Uber and Lyft to get us around the city so we could enjoy ourselves without having to drive, (I mean it's Tennessee, we wanted that whiskey!) Everything was very close about a 5-15 min drive to get to all the main areas like East Nashville, 12 South, and the Gulch.

After a long 7 hour drive, we arrived in Nashville and settled into our Airbnb around 6 pm. We made pretty good time considering the road construction in Kentucky. Like, true tourists, we decided to hit up Broadway so we could get our honky tonk on. But we also hit up so really great shops, breweries, and distilleries. Here are my favorites and recommendations by the locals:

EAT + DRINK

FROTHY MONKY · 12 SOUTH
2509 12TH AVE S, NASHVILLE, TN 37204
Great place to grab a cup of joe in the morning, great breakfast and lunch items too

FIVE DAUGHTERS BAKERY · 12 SOUTH

If you love donuts and a bright atmosphere for those insta posts then this is your place.

EDLEY'S BAR-B-QUE · 12 SOUTH
2706 12TH AVE S, NASHVILLE, TN 37204
BBQ on point was recommended when I was looking for BBQ spots, they also have some fun cocktails and you can take home their BBQ sauce!

LOVELESS CAFE · NASHVILLE
8400 TN-100, NASHVILLE, TN 37221
Come early, there will be a wait if you are just driving through it's totally worth a stop. Real southern comfort food, the biscuits are the jam!

THE SUTLER SALOON · MELROSE
2600 8TH AVE S #109, NASHVILLE, TN 37204
This was a fun little stumble upon a place, we came for Sunday brunch, all you can drink mimosa and bloody mary bar and live bluegrass music!

HATTIE B'S HOT CHICKEN · MUSIC ROW
112 19TH AVE S, NASHVILLE, TN 37203
Every local we talked to said our trip would be wasted if we didn't eat Hot Chicken. Hattie B's did not disappoint.

PATTERSON HOUSE · MUSIC ROW
1711 DIVISION ST, NASHVILLE, TN 37203
If you are looking for a night to dress up and enjoy fancy smancy cocktails and dinner this was it. Be prepared for a wait, about an hour, but inside is very chic and dark.

PINEWOOD SOCIAL · DOWNTOWN
33 PEABODY ST, NASHVILLE, TN 37210
You could potentially spend an entire day here with a coffee bar, restaurant, a bowling alley, bocce ball court, and bar. There's even an outdoor pool space for nicer days.

NO. 308 · EAST NASHVILLE
407 GALLATIN AVE, NASHVILLE, TN 37206
Trendy late-night hangout features craft cocktails amid midcentury-modern decor, plus patio seating.

LITTLE HARPETH BREWING · EAST NASHVILLE

BUTCHERTOWN HALL · GERMANTOWN

Rustic-chic New American spot with a beer garden for wood-fired & smoked eats, brews & cocktails.

NELSON'S GREEN BRIER DISTILLERY · NASHVILLE

AMELIA'S FLOWER TRUCK · 12 SOUTH
2908 12TH AVE SOUTH, NASHVILLE, TN 37204
Right out front of White's Mercantile is this amazingly beautiful retro VW van turned into a flower shop. If you're a sucker for fresh flowers like I am you will want to buy them all.

LOCAL HONEY · 12 SOUTH
2009 BELMONT BLVD, NASHVILLE, TN 37212
If you're a fan of vintage and thrifting, pop into Local Honey. The collection is cleanly curated and organized—not chaotic, like some think of thrift store being. There's apparently a couple location and they also have hair services, it's a one-stop shop!

They have everything—music from indie artists to classic legends to Grammy winners to Nashville locals.

NASHVILLE FARMERS MARKET · NASHVILLE
900 ROSA L PARKS BLVD, NASHVILLE, TN 37208
Open every day, and if you are like me, just like fresh flowers, I love my farmer's markets. It's nice to grab a few items to have on hand in your Airbnb too for mornings and snacks.

MUSICIANS CORNER · CENTENNIAL PARK
2500 WEST END AVE, NASHVILLE, TN 37203
There are a ton free shows happening in Nashville at any given time. Who doesn't lie outdoor music fest?!

119 3RD AVE S, NASHVILLE, TN 37201
Even if your not a huge Johnny Cash fan, or country fan for that matter, it was still pretty cool to check out.

❤ PHOTO OPS
Nashville has so many of these murals all over the city and yes, we were in line with all the other ladies waiting for our photo to be taken, it was almost kinda of silly standing there waiting for this but I'm still glad we did it.

  5. Thanks for this post! I'm planning a trip to Nashville for a bachelorette party for my sister and I'm going to use this for reference! I've been once before for my own party, but didn't have any part in the planning so I've been trying to find all the info I can on cute places! What were your Lyft/Uber charges would you say? I'm debating whether to do a hotel close to things or get a cute house that is farther away!
