Our name comes from the principals of the above definitions. Native in its adjective form involves us actively living and growing naturally in our region of the Midwest, which is Chicago. Folk in its noun form refers to us cultivating a group of like-minded individuals who share in our mission:

mindful ⋅ sustainable ⋅ ethical living

Native as Folk seeks environmentally conscious and mindful consumption, and it is vital to shop and source our products locally and ethically. In a society where it is encouraged to buy new and discard the old, we believe it is necessary to be mindful of what we are buying and from whom we buy those goods; to live as Native as Folk.

We want to share our journey of living a lifestyle of reducing our footprint and reusing whenever possible - leaving only to recycling as a last resort. We are committed to keeping our footprint small and we reuse shipping materials whenever possible & all materials are compostable or recyclable.

I’m not trying to do something different, I’m trying to do the same thing but in a different way.

we give a sh*t!

We look forward to seeing our shop grow, but we also see this as much more than just selling vintage wares. On top of caring for the environment we also want to promote standing up for matters that mean a lot to us, having a voice, and speaking up. We want to give back to our community by donating a portion of our proceeds each month to a new charity or organization (see this month’s charity organization on Giving Back).

We hope to be able to foster these principals with other like-minded individuals to grow, share, and become that kindred tribe of positive, caring, earth-loving dwellers. We seek only good vibes.
